USMC 1st Medical Battalion 1st Force Service Group Patch — USMC Embroidered Patch
Save Every Life — 1st Medical Battalion
While infantry Marines close with the enemy, the corpsmen and medical Marines of 1st Medical Battalion are right behind them — patching wounds, stabilizing casualties, and evacuating the fallen under fire. This patch honors the medical professionals who have kept Marines in the fight from Guadalcanal to Afghanistan.
1st Medical Battalion was activated on 6 September 1940 at Quantico, Virginia, and assigned to the 1st Marine Brigade. Reassigned to the 1st Marine Division in February 1941, the battalion deployed to the Pacific in 1942 and provided medical support through some of the bloodiest campaigns of World War II — Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, Peleliu, and Okinawa. The battalion supported the 1st Marine Division through the Korean War, including the Inchon landing and the Chosin Reservoir, and provided medical support during the Vietnam War. Based at Camp Pendleton, California, the battalion fell under the 1st Force Service Support Group (redesignated 1st Marine Logistics Group in 2005) and deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. The battalion provides collection, emergency treatment, temporary hospitalization, specialized surgery, and evacuation of battle injuries to I Marine Expeditionary Force.
Perfect For: Navy corpsmen, 1st Medical Battalion veterans, 1st MLG and former 1st FSSG personnel, combat medics, and anyone who honors the healers who run toward the sound of gunfire.
Save every life. That's the mission. That's the oath.
