The Sikorsky MH-60S Knighthawk is the United States Navy's multi-mission workhorse helicopter, serving in Helicopter Sea Combat (HSC) squadrons across the fleet. Entering service in February 2002 as a replacement for the venerable CH-46D Sea Knight, the MH-60S combines the proven UH-60 Black Hawk airframe with the Navy Seahawk's marinized engines, folding rotor system, and naval avionics to create the most versatile rotary-wing platform in the Navy's inventory.
The Knighthawk performs an extraordinary range of missions — from vertical replenishment and combat search and rescue to special warfare support, airborne mine countermeasures, and anti-surface warfare. Armed with door-mounted machine guns, Hellfire missiles, and equipped with advanced sensors including FLIR, the MH-60S can transition from logistics to combat in the time it takes to swap a mission kit. With nearly 275 aircraft in service, the Knighthawk operates from aircraft carriers, amphibious assault ships, and littoral combat ships worldwide.
