The Yuma AZ Fighting Cactus PVC patch celebrates MCAS Yuma, Arizona, and its unique desert environment with a playful fighting cactus mascot. Yuma is one of the Marine Corps' most important aviation installations, home to multiple F-35B and F-35C Lightning II squadrons as well as the legendary Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) course. The fighting cactus represents the resilience required to thrive in Yuma's extreme desert heat.
MCAS Yuma's location in the Sonoran Desert provides year-round clear skies and access to some of the largest military training ranges in the world, making it the ideal location for tactical aviation training. Temperatures regularly exceed 110°F in the summer, creating a uniquely challenging environment that tests both aircraft and personnel.
