WTI JOPA Patch — Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course Junior Officer Protection Association Embroidered Patch
Junior officers unite — surviving WTI one brief at a time.
The WTI JOPA patch represents the Junior Officer's Protection Association at the Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One (MAWTS-1) Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI) course. JOPA is the unofficial but universally recognized brotherhood of junior officers in the military — the lieutenants and captains who do the heavy lifting while navigating the unique challenges of being the lowest-ranking officers in the wardroom. At WTI, the stakes and the workload are even higher.
The WTI course, conducted by MAWTS-1 at MCAS Yuma, Arizona, is the Marine Corps' premier tactical training event. For approximately seven weeks, Marine aviation squadrons send their best officers to learn advanced weapons and tactics employment through intensive academics, simulator events, and large-scale live-fly exercises. For the junior officers attending WTI, the experience is simultaneously the most professionally rewarding and physically exhausting event of their careers. Long days, endless briefs, complex mission planning, and high-pressure evaluations push JOs to their limits. The JOPA patch is their badge of solidarity — a reminder that they're all in it together.
This patch celebrates the unbreakable bond of junior officers enduring the WTI grind.
Perfect For: WTI attendees, MAWTS-1 students, Marine aviation junior officers, JOPA members, and military officer culture patch collectors.
JOPA strong — surviving WTI together.
