The Knightriders' Gun Club means qualified door gunners and crew chiefs who can throw lead from a V-22 — and they proved it on WESTPAC.
This Gun Club patch from Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 164 (VMM-164), the Knightriders, recognizes the Osprey crew members qualified as aerial gunners during the squadron's WESTPAC deployment with the 15th MEU. The V-22 Osprey's defensive armament requires specially trained crew chiefs and aerial gunners who can engage threats from the aircraft's ramp gun. Earning Gun Club status means a crew member has demonstrated proficiency in aerial gunnery, defensive tactics, and weapons employment during actual operational flights. This WESTPAC deployment patch commemorates those Knightriders who qualified while operating across the Indo-Pacific theater.
