VMFA-648 Hawks/Silver Eagles (VMFA-533/VMFA-115) Red Flag Squadron Patch — When Two Squadrons Become One Beast
Beaufort sent the Hawks and Silver Eagles to Vegas, and Red Flag never saw it coming.
This patch was created for the combined team of VMFA(AW)-533 Hawks and VMFA-115 Silver Eagles from MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina, for their participation in Red Flag — the U.S. Air Force's premier air combat exercise held at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. Red Flag is the closest thing to real air-to-air and air-to-ground combat that exists in peacetime, and when Marine F/A-18 Hornet squadrons from Beaufort joined forces under the fictional "VMFA-648" designation, they brought the full weight of Marine Corps tactical air power to the desert. VMFA(AW)-533 Hawks and VMFA-115 Silver Eagles are both storied MAG-31 squadrons with combat lineages stretching back to WWII, and putting them together for Red Flag created a combined force that could match anything the Air Force, Navy, or allied nations brought to the fight.
Perfect For: VMFA-533 Hawks and VMFA-115 Silver Eagles Marines and veterans, Red Flag exercise participants, MCAS Beaufort squadrons, MAG-31 and 2nd MAW personnel, F/A-18 Hornet community, and anyone who earned their patch in the Red Flag kill box.
VMFA-648 — two squadrons, one mission, zero mercy.
