US Coast Guard Damage Controlman Patch — United States Coast Guard Damage Controlman (DC) Rating Embroidered Patch

Damage Controlman — keeping Coast Guard cutters afloat and fighting.

This US Coast Guard Damage Controlman (DC) patch represents one of the most critical ratings in the Coast Guard — the specialists who fight fires, control flooding, repair battle damage, and maintain the watertight integrity of Coast Guard cutters and shore facilities. Damage Controlmen are the last line of defense between a ship and the sea.

Coast Guard Damage Controlmen are trained in firefighting, damage control, chemical/biological/radiological defense, plumbing, sewage treatment, and hull maintenance. When a cutter takes on water, catches fire, or suffers structural damage, the DCs are the first responders who stabilize the situation and keep the ship afloat. They maintain firefighting equipment, conduct damage control drills, inspect watertight fittings, and ensure that every crew member knows how to respond to emergencies. In the Coast Guard, where cutters operate in some of the most dangerous sea conditions on Earth — from Arctic ice patrols to hurricane-force storms — the Damage Controlman's expertise is the difference between a ship that survives and one that doesn't.

This patch represents the Damage Controlman rating.

Perfect For: Coast Guard Damage Controlmen, cutter crew members, damage control professionals, and USCG rating patch collectors.

DCs keep it afloat — USCG.
