This embroidered patch commemorates Olongapo and Naval Station Subic Bay in the Philippines, one of the most legendary liberty ports in military history. For decades, Olongapo was the first stop for Navy and Marine Corps personnel after long Western Pacific deployments, and the stories from its streets have become part of military folklore. The base closed in 1992, but Olongapo's reputation lives on in the memories of every sailor and Marine who walked through the main gate and crossed the bridge into town. This patch is a piece of that history.
