Officially Licensed USMC Marine Barracks Mare Island California Patch — Historic Marine Corps Installation Embroidered Patch

Mare Island — where the Marine Corps and the Navy built a fleet together.

Marine Barracks Mare Island was a historic United States Marine Corps installation located at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, California. Established in 1862, Mare Island Naval Shipyard was the first U.S. Navy base on the Pacific coast, and the Marine Barracks provided security, ceremonial support, and detachments for the ships and facilities that operated from this legendary yard. Over its long history, Mare Island built and repaired hundreds of naval vessels — from Civil War-era monitors through World War II submarines and Cold War nuclear ships. The Marines stationed at Mare Island served as the garrison force for this critical Pacific fleet support installation. Although the shipyard was closed in 1996 under Base Realignment and Closure, the legacy of Marine Barracks Mare Island lives on. This officially licensed patch honors the Marines who stood guard at one of the Navy's most historic Pacific installations.

Perfect For: Marine Barracks Mare Island veterans and alumni, Mare Island Naval Shipyard heritage enthusiasts, Vallejo and Bay Area military community, Marine barracks patch collectors, and military history buffs.

Mare Island — where Marines guarded the Pacific fleet's home.
