The 9th Marine Corps Recruiting District is one of the major recruiting commands under Marine Corps Recruiting Command (MCRC), headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. The 9th District is responsible for Marine Corps recruiting operations across a vast swath of the American heartland, overseeing Recruiting Stations (RS) in Chicago, Denver, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Oklahoma City, St. Louis, and Twin Cities. Together, these stations cover dozens of states stretching from the Great Lakes to the Rocky Mountains and from the Canadian border to the Southern Plains.
Marine Corps recruiting is one of the most demanding assignments in the Corps—Prior Service Recruiters (PSRs) are tasked with finding, screening, and enlisting the next generation of Marines from communities that may have little direct connection to military service. The 9th District's recruiters operate in major metropolitan areas and small rural towns alike, conducting school visits, community events, fitness challenges, and one-on-one mentorship to identify young men and women who meet the Marine Corps' exacting physical, mental, and moral standards. Every Marine who ships to boot camp from the 9th District's area of responsibility represents hundreds of hours of recruiter effort.
