USMC 29 Palms Air Control Training Squadron ACTS Desert Owls Patch — Embroidered Patch
Desert Owls — Air Control Training Squadron, MCAGCC Twentynine Palms
In the high desert of Twentynine Palms, where the heat is relentless and the training is harder, the Air Control Training Squadron turns Marines into the communications and electronics professionals who keep the Marine Air-Ground Task Force connected and lethal. This patch carries the identity of the Desert Owls — the training command that produces the Corps' air control and electronic warfare specialists.
The Air Control Training Squadron (ACTS) is part of the Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School (MCCES) at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, California. ACTS trains approximately 1,400 entry-level and career-level Marines annually in ground electronics maintenance, aviation communications electronics maintenance, aviation command and control, and explosive ordnance disposal. The squadron produces the Marines who operate and maintain the radar systems, communication networks, data links, and electronic warfare systems that enable Marine aviation command and control. MCCES is one of three smaller schools under ACTS, the Communication Training Battalion, and MARDET Monterey — together training Marines across the 0600, 2800, 5900, and 7200 occupational fields. The Desert Owls nickname reflects the squadron's home in the unforgiving Mojave Desert.
Perfect For: ACTS graduates, MCCES alumni, 29 Palms Marines, communications and electronics MOS Marines (0600/2800/5900/7200), and anyone who earned their skills in the desert.
Desert Owls — trained in the heat, ready for the fight.
