Marine Corps Air Station Mojave served as a critical training base during World War II, preparing Marine aviation squadrons for combat in the Pacific theater. Located in the harsh California desert, MCAS Mojave provided the vast open spaces and challenging flying conditions needed to train pilots for the demanding island-hopping campaigns ahead. This embroidered patch preserves the legacy of a base that played a vital role in building the Marine aviation force that helped win the war. Many of the Marines who trained at Mojave went on to fly combat missions at Guadalcanal, Midway, Okinawa, and across the Pacific.
