Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 36 (MALS-36) provides critical aviation logistics and maintenance support to Marine Aircraft Group 36 (MAG-36) at MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan. The Ordnance division of MALS-36 is responsible for the storage, assembly, delivery, and loading of all aviation ordnance — from precision-guided munitions and rockets to machine gun ammunition and pyrotechnics. This Summer 2025 PVC patch is a seasonal morale edition that celebrates the Ordnance Marines who keep the weapons hot and ready under the Okinawan sun.
Aviation Ordnance Marines live by the motto "IYAOYAS" — a profane but proud declaration of their indispensable role in combat aviation. Without Ordnance Marines, aircraft are just expensive transportation. These are the Marines who build the bombs, load the missiles, and ensure that every round fired and every weapon released performs exactly as intended.
