MALS-16, the "Immortals," is a Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron based at MCAS Miramar, California, under MAG-16 and 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. MALS-16 provides intermediate-level aviation maintenance and logistics support to the squadrons of MAG-16, including MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor squadrons. The Powerplants section (MOS 41N) is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft engines — the Marines who ensure every powerplant delivers reliable thrust on every mission. MALS squadrons are the unsung backbone of Marine aviation, providing the intermediate maintenance capability that keeps the fleet mission-capable.
