The 1st Marine Air Warning Group (MAWG) provided radar-based air warning and control during World War II in the Pacific Theater. These Marines operated early warning radar systems that detected incoming enemy aircraft, giving Marine fighter squadrons the critical seconds needed to scramble and intercept.
