Naval Air Station Cecil Field, near Jacksonville, Florida, served as one of the Navy's most important fighter and attack squadron bases until its closure in 1999 under the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process. This embroidered patch preserves Cecil Field's legacy as the home of numerous F-14 Tomcat and F/A-18 Hornet squadrons. The base was the beating heart of East Coast naval strike fighter aviation, and its runways saw thousands of fighter pilots train and deploy for combat operations worldwide. Cecil Field's closure scattered its squadrons to other bases, but its legacy endures.
