This H&HS MCAS Beaufort 244th Marine Corps Birthday Ball patch commemorates the squadron's celebration of the 244th anniversary of the founding of the United States Marine Corps. The Birthday Ball, held annually on or near November 10th, is the most cherished tradition in the Marine Corps.
Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron at MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina, provides base support services for one of the Marine Corps' premier fighter training installations. Known informally as the "Swamp Foxes," H&HS Beaufort's Marines and sailors ensure the air station runs smoothly, supporting the F-35B Lightning II training squadrons and other tenant commands. The 244th Birthday Ball, held in 2019, brought together the Beaufort military community for an evening of tradition, ceremony, and celebration. The cake-cutting ceremony, General Lejeune's Birthday Message, and the passing of the first slice from the oldest to the youngest Marine present are traditions that connect today's Marines to 244 years of Corps history. This patch marks H&HS Beaufort's participation in that enduring tradition.
