VFA-94 Shrikes The Last of Our Morale Shoulder Patch — When All You Have Left Is a Patch
Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Your morale? Already gone.
VFA-94 "The Mighty Shrikes" is a U.S. Navy strike fighter squadron based at NAS Lemoore, California, attached to Carrier Air Wing 17. Named after the loggerhead shrike — a small carnivorous bird that impales its prey on thorns — the Shrikes have been living up to that savage namesake since their commissioning at NAS Alameda in 1952. They completed seven consecutive combat deployments to Vietnam, led the first Navy bombing strikes into North Vietnam after the 1968 bombing halt, and participated in the mining of Haiphong harbor. In 1988, they delivered direct hits on the Iranian frigate Sahand during Operation Praying Mantis — the first major U.S. naval battle since World War II. The Shrikes led the first strikes of Operation Enduring Freedom on October 7, 2001. Currently flying the F/A-18F Super Hornet with the callsign "Hobo," this morale patch captures that special brand of dark humor that keeps the squadron going when the optempo is high and the morale is... well, you know.
Perfect For: VFA-94 Mighty Shrikes aircrew and maintainers, CVW-17 personnel, NAS Lemoore aviators, and anyone whose morale was last seen somewhere over the Arabian Sea.
Mighty Shrikes — we impale morale, not just the enemy.
