The squadron is manned by a mix of Full Time Support and Selected Reserve sailors who maintain and fly one of the Navy's most critical — and least celebrated — mission sets: keeping the logistics pipeline flowing. VR-61 has compiled over 126,000 mishap-free flight hours, earned multiple Battle "E" awards and Safety "S" awards, and once circumnavigated the entire globe on a single logistics detachment.
