This VP-1 "Screaming Eagles" shoulder patch is the official shoulder-worn version of Patrol Squadron 1's insignia, designed for wear on flight suits and uniforms. VP-1 is one of the Navy's premier maritime patrol squadrons, operating the P-8A Poseidon from NAS Whidbey Island, Washington.
VP-1 traces its lineage to 1943 and has served with distinction across every major conflict and peacetime deployment since World War II. The Screaming Eagles operate the Boeing P-8A Poseidon, a militarized 737 that represents the cutting edge of maritime patrol and reconnaissance aviation. VP-1's missions include anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASUW), intelligence collection, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations across the world's oceans. The shoulder patch format places the Screaming Eagles' identity prominently on the uniform, visible to all and marking the wearer as a member of one of the Navy's most operationally active patrol squadrons.
