**Officially Licensed USMC VMF-214 Swashbucklers Squadron Patch**
Before they were the Black Sheep, they were the Swashbucklers—and they were already stacking kills in the Solomons. This patch honors the original VMF-214, the squadron that flew Wildcats and Corsairs against the Japanese before Pappy Boyington ever took the stick.
VMF-214 was commissioned on 1 July 1942 at MCAS Ewa, Hawaii. Originally nicknamed the "Swashbucklers" under Major George Britt, the squadron fought in the Solomon Islands campaign, transitioning from F4F Wildcats to the legendary gull-winged F4U Corsair. They claimed 20 aerial victories and produced two aces before being disbanded—after which Pappy Boyington reformed the squadron as the famous Black Sheep. Today the squadron flies AV-8B Harriers from MCAS Yuma under MAG-13.
