The UH-1Y Venom, known as the "Yankee" model, is the Marine Corps' current utility helicopter, operating alongside the AH-1Z Viper as part of the Light/Attack community's integrated helicopter team. The UH-1Y and AH-1Z share a common engine, drivetrain, and avionics suite, creating unprecedented logistical and tactical synergy between utility and attack helicopters in the same squadron. The UH-1Y conducts assault support, command and control, casualty evacuation, and armed escort missions, continuing the Huey legacy that began in Vietnam over sixty years ago. This officially licensed leather patch represents the Type/Model/Series (TMS) identity of the UH-1Y within the light/attack team concept.
