VRM-50 Sunhawks US Flag Patch — The Navy's First Osprey Schoolhouse

Before you fly the CMV-22B to the fleet, you learn it here.

VRM-50 "Sunhawks" is a Fleet Logistics Multi-Mission Squadron and the Navy's first CMV-22B Osprey Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS), established in October 2020 at NAS North Island, California. The Sunhawks are responsible for training all future Navy CMV-22B pilots and aircrewmen before they report to operational fleet squadrons. The CMV-22B Osprey is replacing the venerable C-2A Greyhound in the carrier onboard delivery (COD) role — transporting personnel, mail, supplies, and high-priority cargo (including F-35 engine components) from shore bases to aircraft carriers at sea. The tiltrotor's ability to take off and land vertically without catapults or arresting gear gives the Navy unprecedented flexibility in distributed maritime operations. VRM-50 received its safe-for-flight certification in December 2021 and began producing fleet-ready aviators in 2022. This US flag patch represents the Sunhawks' pride in standing up an entirely new community from scratch.

Perfect For: VRM-50 Sunhawks personnel, CMV-22B Osprey community, NAS North Island squadrons, fleet logistics aviators and aircrewmen, former C-2A Greyhound crews transitioning to the Osprey, and anyone who knows the COD mission keeps the carrier strike group in the fight.

VRM-50 Sunhawks — training the next generation of fleet logistics.
