Officially Licensed US Navy VFA-34 Blue Blasters Leather Squadron Patch — Strike Fighter Squadron 34 Leather Embroidered Patch
Blue Blasters — from Hellcats over Leyte Gulf to Super Hornets over the Gulf, now in leather.
Strike Fighter Squadron 34 (VFA-34), the "Blue Blasters," is a United States Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet strike fighter squadron based at Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia, flying as part of Carrier Air Wing 3 aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. The Blue Blasters' combat lineage stretches back to October 15, 1943, when the squadron was commissioned as VF-20, the "Jokers," and deployed aboard USS Enterprise flying F6F Hellcats into the Battle of Leyte Gulf. The squadron adopted the "Blue Blasters" nickname in 1957, inspired by their blue tail colors and nuclear weapon delivery capability. Over eight decades of service, the Blue Blasters have flown eight aircraft types from the decks of 24 carriers, including combat operations in World War II, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Bosnia, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. The squadron was the first to deploy the HARPOON missile in combat and flew the last operational F/A-18C "Legacy" Hornet flights in the Navy before transitioning to the Super Hornet. This leather patch brings the Blue Blasters insignia to a premium flight jacket format.
Perfect For: VFA-34 Blue Blasters active-duty and veteran personnel, NAS Oceana strike fighter community, CVW-3 aircrew, Super Hornet pilots, and leather military patch collectors.
