Officially Licensed US Navy VFA-22 Fighting Redcocks Patch — You Can't Beat a Redcock
Callsign: Beef. Attitude: rare.
VFA-22 was originally established as Fighter Squadron 63 at NAS Norfolk in 1948 and has been collecting "firsts" ever since. The Fighting Redcocks were the first West Coast squadron to successfully employ the AGM-88 HARM missile, the first to deploy with the AIM-120 AMRAAM, and the first forward-deployed crew to drop the JSOW on enemy soil — with a 100 percent kill ratio. Over nine combat deployments during Korea and Vietnam and continued action in Operations Desert Fox, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom, VFA-22 has delivered over 415,000 pounds of ordnance in a single deployment — more than any other Navy squadron at the time. Now flying F/A-18F Super Hornets out of NAS Lemoore with CVW-17, the Redcocks remain one of the deadliest strike fighter squadrons in the fleet.
Perfect For: VFA-22 alumni and active duty, Super Hornet pilots and WSOs, CVW-17 personnel, and anyone who knows that when you hear "Beef" on the radio — someone's about to have a very bad day.
Ten airframes. Seven decades. Zero quit. The Fighting Redcocks keep coming.
