Black Knights — F-14 Tomcats forward-deployed to Japan, the Tomcat sundown era.

VF-154, the "Black Knights," was a U.S. Navy fighter squadron whose F-14 Tomcat era is one of the most respected chapters in fleet aviation. The squadron traces back to July 1, 1946 when it was established as Naval Reserve squadron VFB-718 at NAS Floyd Bennett, New York flying F6F Hellcats and F4U Corsairs; underwent multiple redesignations through VF-68A and VF-837; and was officially redesignated VF-154 on February 4, 1953 — under way under the Golden Gate Bridge aboard USS Princeton en route to Korea. The Black Knights set a Navy squadron record by flying 48 sorties in a single day on June 15, 1953 with F9F-2 Panthers off USS Antietam, transitioned to the FJ-3 Fury, F-8 Crusader (1957), and F-4 Phantom II in Vietnam, and adopted the iconic Black Knight insignia (designed by cartoonist Milton Caniff) when they got the Crusader — a warrior with sword and shield. VF-154 transitioned to the F-14A Tomcat in October 1983, deployed in 1985 aboard USS Constellation, and in 1991 became the U.S. Navy's first forward-deployed F-14 squadron when it was stationed in Japan as part of CVW-5. The Black Knights flew the F-14 from Atsugi for 12 years before being redesignated VFA-154 in October 2003 and transitioning to the F/A-18F Super Hornet. This sticker is a tribute to the Tomcat era. Outdoor-grade vinyl, sharp die-cut edge.

Perfect For: VF-154 Black Knights F-14 Tomcat plankowners and veterans, F-14 community alumni across the fleet, NAF Atsugi forward-deployed Sailors, CVW-5 USS Independence and USS Kitty Hawk veterans, F-14 Tomcat heritage enthusiasts, Tomcat sundown community members, and Black Knight legacy sticker collectors.

VF-154 Black Knights — F-14 Tomcats forward, Atsugi forever.
