Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 71 (HSM-71), the "Raptors," is a U.S. Navy helicopter maritime strike squadron operating the MH-60R Seahawk from NAS North Island, Coronado, California. HSM-71 deploys with Pacific Fleet carrier strike groups, providing anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASuW), search and rescue, logistics support, and communications relay from the flight decks of carriers, cruisers, and destroyers. The MH-60R is the Navy's most advanced maritime helicopter, equipped with multi-mode radar, dipping sonar, sonobuoys, Hellfire missiles, and torpedoes. HSM-71 command patches represent the squadron's leadership and are traditionally worn by the commanding officer, executive officer, and department heads.
