HSC-21, the Blackjacks, is a Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron based at Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, flying the MH-60S Seahawk. Established in 1977 as HC-11 "Gunbearers" and redesignated HSC-21 in April 2005, the Blackjacks operate five expeditionary detachments that deploy aboard Combat Logistics Force ships, hospital ships, and amphibious assault ships across the fleet. From vertical replenishment keeping the fleet fed and armed to combat support during Operation Iraqi Freedom, HSC-21 delivers wherever the Navy sails.
