This throwback patch honors the heritage of HSM-74, the Swamp Foxes, reaching back to the squadron's roots as HSL-44 before their 2011 redesignation. The Swamp Foxes have operated from NAS Jacksonville (and previously Naval Station Mayport) for decades, transitioning from the SH-60B to the MH-60R Seahawk while maintaining their core mission of hunting submarines and striking surface threats. The throwback design captures the squadron's identity from an earlier era — a piece of aviation history that connects today's combat-proven Swamp Foxes to the generations of helicopter crews who built the squadron's reputation for excellence.
