1st Battalion, 23rd Marines is a reserve infantry battalion under 4th Marine Division, headquartered in Texas. The battalion maintains combat readiness as part of the Selected Marine Corps Reserve, training Marines who hold civilian jobs during the week and operate as infantry warriors during drill weekends and annual training. When mobilized, 1/23 integrates with the active component to provide additional infantry capability, bringing the same fighting spirit that Texas has been known for since the Alamo.
