Training Squadron 6 (VT-6), the Shooters, operates from NAS Whiting Field, Florida, flying the T-6B Texan II as part of the Navy's primary flight training pipeline. VT-6 is responsible for taking student naval aviators through their initial fixed-wing training syllabus, teaching the fundamental skills of airmanship, navigation, formation flying, and instrument procedures. The Beechcraft T-6B Texan II is a turboprop trainer that provides the foundation upon which every naval aviator builds their career. VT-6's instructors are fleet-experienced pilots who return to the training command to shape the next generation of carrier and maritime patrol aviators.
