**Official VT-2 Doerbirds Thanksgiving Patch — Navy Training Squadron Embroidered Patch**
VT-2 Doerbirds — the Navy's oldest primary training squadron, serving up a Thanksgiving-themed patch that's as festive as your first solo. If you earned your wings at Whiting Field, this one's for the turkey day you spent in the pattern.
Training Squadron Two (VT-2), the "Doerbirds," was born from Basic Training Group Two and commissioned on May 1, 1960, at Naval Air Station Whiting Field near Milton, Florida. VT-2's mission is to provide primary and intermediate stage flight training to student aviators of the United States Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and allied nations. Flying the T-6B Texan II, the Doerbirds graduate approximately 210 students each year, with each student completing roughly 67 hours of instructional flight time covering familiarization, basic instruments, precision aerobatics, formation, and night flying. Since commissioning, VT-2 has logged over 1,800,000 flight hours and trained more than 19,000 students — making it one of the most prolific pilot training programs in naval aviation history.
