Official VRC-40 & VRC-30 Japan Det Patch — Greyhound Logistics Across the Pacific
When the carrier needed mail, parts, and people yesterday, VRC-40 and VRC-30's Japan Det made it happen in a Greyhound.
This patch commemorates the Japan Detachment operations of Fleet Logistics Support Squadrons 40 (VRC-40, the Rawhides) and 30 (VRC-30, the Providers). These squadrons operate the C-2A Greyhound, the carrier onboard delivery (COD) aircraft responsible for ferrying passengers, mail, and critical cargo between shore bases and aircraft carriers at sea. The Japan Detachment maintained a forward-deployed logistics capability in the Western Pacific, supporting carrier strike groups operating from Yokosuka and throughout the Indo-Pacific region. COD operations may lack the glamour of fighter aviation, but they are absolutely essential — a carrier cannot sustain operations without the steady stream of supplies that VRC squadrons deliver.
Perfect For: VRC-40 Rawhides and VRC-30 Providers veterans, C-2 Greyhound aircrew, COD community members, Japan-based naval aviation personnel, and fleet logistics collectors.
Neither rain, nor sea, nor pitching deck stops the Greyhound.
