VR-55 Minutemen Texaco Aerial Refueling — Embroidered Patch
Minutemen — The Flying Gas Station
The Minutemen of VR-55 don't just haul cargo and passengers — they also serve as aerial refueling tankers, keeping Marine and Navy aircraft in the fight with KC-130T Hercules tanker operations. This "Texaco" patch captures the refueling mission with classic aviation humor.
Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 55 (VR-55), the Minutemen, was established on 1 April 1976 at NAS Alameda as the Navy's first reserve jet squadron, flying C-9B Skytrains. The squadron transitioned to KC-130T Hercules aircraft in 1993, adding aerial refueling to its logistics mission. Based at NAS Point Mugu, the Minutemen provide global logistics and aerial refueling support worldwide, from humanitarian relief operations to combat support. With over 177,000 accident-free flight hours, VR-55 has delivered personnel and cargo across every theater of operations while keeping thirsty aircraft fueled in the sky.
Perfect For:
VR-55 Minutemen veterans, KC-130T Hercules aircrew, Navy reserve logistics community, aerial refueling patch collectors, and Navy transport aviation enthusiasts.
