This Wave Rider patch celebrates the squadron's maritime patrol identity with a design that captures the essence of ocean surveillance.
Patrol Squadron 9 flies the Boeing P-8A Poseidon from NAS Whidbey Island, Washington, conducting anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions across the globe. The Golden Eagles transitioned from the venerable P-3C Orion to the P-8A, bringing jet speed, advanced sensors, and modern mission systems to the maritime patrol mission. VP-9 has deployed throughout the Pacific, to the Middle East, and across the Atlantic, maintaining the Navy's underwater and surface awareness in some of the world's most contested waters.
