Official VP-46 Grey Knights 6-inch reflective vinyl sticker.
The Navy's oldest maritime patrol squadron — P-8A Poseidons out of Whidbey, since 1931.
Patrol Squadron 46 (VP-46), the "Grey Knights," is the oldest maritime patrol squadron in the U.S. Navy and the second-oldest aircraft squadron in the entire Navy — second only to VFA-14. The squadron was established as Patrol Squadron 5-S (VP-5S) on July 1, 1931 at NAS Coco Solo in the Panama Canal Zone, and received its final designation as VP-46 on September 1, 1948. After WWII, the Grey Knights supported Cold War operations from NAS Alameda, California — including participation in nuclear tests during Operation Sandstone — and operated the PBM Mariner and P5M-1 in the 1950s. The squadron has flown combat operations in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. VP-46 currently calls Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington home, as part of Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing 10, and transitioned from the P-3C Orion (which it flew for over 50 years) to the P-8A Poseidon in 2019. During its final P-3C deployment in early 2019, the squadron completed over 600 missions including operations in Syria/Iraq supporting the Defeat-ISIS Campaign. This 6-inch reflective vinyl sticker carries the Grey Knights forward. Reflective vinyl, sharp die-cut edge, ready to ride.
Perfect For: VP-46 Grey Knights active-duty and veteran personnel, P-8A Poseidon and P-3C Orion pilots, NFOs, and aircrew, NAS Whidbey Island Sailors, Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing 10 personnel, NAS Alameda Cold War heritage collectors, MPRA community members, and reflective squadron sticker enthusiasts.
