VP-1, the Screaming Eagles, flies the P-8A Poseidon on maritime patrol and reconnaissance missions worldwide. This tan/desert-colored patch is the low-visibility variant worn during deployments to arid environments — the Middle East, Africa, and other CENTCOM theaters where the Screaming Eagles extend their anti-submarine and ISR mission sets over land and sea alike. The desert color scheme blends with flight suits worn in theater while still carrying the VP-1 Screaming Eagles identity that's been hunting submarines and providing maritime domain awareness since the squadron's earliest days. A tan patch means you were there — doing the mission in the sand.
