Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 3, the Phantoms, operates unmanned aircraft systems providing intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance to the Marine Air-Ground Task Force. This JOPA (Junior Officers Protection Association) patch represents the junior officers of VMU-3 who handle the day-to-day grind of squadron life — from flight schedules and maintenance coordination to the endless administrative tasks that keep the unit running. The JOPA is an unofficial but universally recognized institution in military aviation, where lieutenants and captains band together in solidarity.
