Official VMM-774 Wild Goose NAS New York PVC Patch — Reserve Power, Active Results
The Wild Goose doesn't wait for a weekend drill to get after it.
VMM-774 "Wild Goose" is a Marine Corps Reserve tiltrotor squadron based at MCAS New River, North Carolina, under MAG-49 and the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing. Originally activated in 1958 at NAS New York as HMR-774, the squadron flew SH-34 Sea Bats before transitioning to CH-46 Sea Knights. The Wild Goose was mobilized for Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1991, then answered the call again with two combat deployments to Al Asad, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2004 to 2006. In 2010, they embarked aboard USS Iwo Jima for Continuing Promise, delivering humanitarian aid across South America and chasing Hurricane Tomas to Haiti for disaster relief. The squadron transitioned to the MV-22B Osprey in 2016 and declared full operating capability in 2018. In 2023, VMM-774 embarked Ospreys aboard USS New York for UNITAS — the first time the squadron put V-22s on a ship. This PVC patch honors a reserve squadron that consistently punches above its weight.
Perfect For: VMM-774 Wild Goose Marines past and present, 4th MAW reservists, CH-46 and MV-22 Osprey crews, and anyone who knows the reserves are always ready when the call comes.
