Reserve Ospreys out of Miramar — Moonlighters key ring, ready for the truck.
Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 764 (VMM-764), the "Moonlighters," is a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve squadron equipped with MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft, operating under Marine Aircraft Group 41 (MAG-41) and the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing (4th MAW). The squadron was activated on April 15, 1958 as Marine Helicopter Transport Squadron 764 (HMR-764) at NAS Los Alamitos, California, and redesignated as Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 764 (HMM-764) on April 1, 1962. The Moonlighters relocated to MCAS El Toro in May 1971, to MCAS (Helicopter) Tustin in June 1975, to Edwards AFB in 1999, and finally to MCAS Miramar, San Diego, California on January 12, 2013 — coinciding with the squadron's redesignation as Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 764 (VMM-764) and its transition to the MV-22B Osprey. The Moonlighters deployed to Al Asad, Iraq in February–September 2004 and again in March–October 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom — running combat assault support cycles in the Sea Knight era — and have continued to deliver MV-22B assault support across Reserve activations and exercises since the 2013 transition. This key ring is the Moonlighters' calling card. Heavy metal hardware, ready for the truck keys, helmet bag carabiner, range bag, or tactical lanyard.
