VMM-162 operates the MV-22B Osprey from MCAS New River, North Carolina, as part of Marine Aircraft Group 26 (MAG-26) under 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. AUTEC, located on Andros Island in the Bahamas, provides one of the most sophisticated underwater testing environments in the world, used by the Navy to evaluate submarine systems, torpedoes, and anti-submarine warfare tactics. VMM-162's Osprey detachment to AUTEC demonstrates the tiltrotor's versatility — supporting operations at a remote island facility that would be difficult to reach with conventional logistics.
