Official VMM-161 REIN ACE 25.2 Africa Patch — Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 161 Reinforced Aviation Combat Element Africa Deployment Embroidered Patch
Greyhawks go to Africa — 25.2 REIN deployment.
Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 161 (VMM-161) "Greyhawks" deployed as the Reinforced Aviation Combat Element (ACE) for the 25.2 deployment cycle to Africa, and this patch commemorates that overseas service. As the REIN ACE, VMM-161 provided the full spectrum of rotary-wing and tiltrotor aviation capabilities to the Marine Air-Ground Task Force operating on the African continent.
VMM-161 operates the MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor from MCAS Miramar, California, as part of Marine Aircraft Group 16 (MAG-16) and 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (3rd MAW). The Africa deployment placed Greyhawk crews in some of the most austere and challenging operating environments on Earth, conducting missions ranging from theater security cooperation and partner nation training to crisis response and contingency operations. The REIN designation means the ACE was reinforced with additional aircraft types and capabilities beyond the standard VMM squadron, creating a versatile aviation package capable of handling any mission the combatant commander required. Africa deployments test every aspect of expeditionary readiness.
This patch marks VMM-161's contribution to operations on the African continent.
Perfect For: VMM-161 Greyhawks Africa deployment veterans, 25.2 rotation personnel, MV-22 Osprey crews, and SPMAGTF-Africa collectors.
