Marine Fighter Attack (All-Weather) Squadron 224 (VMFA(AW)-224), the Bengals, deployed their F/A-18D Hornets to Finland, operating alongside Finnish Air Force fighters in the challenging Arctic environment. This shoulder patch specifically commemorates the F/A-18D variant and the Finland deployment. Operating two-seat Hornets in Finland's extreme cold and limited daylight demonstrated the Bengals' all-weather capability in one of the most demanding environments possible. The deployment strengthened U.S.-Finland military ties and proved the F/A-18D's effectiveness at the edge of the Arctic.
