Official VFA-151 Vigilantes Plane Captain Patch — The Maintainer's Badge of Honor
Pilots fly the jet. Plane captains own it.
VFA-151 "Vigilantes" is one of the U.S. Navy's most battle-tested strike fighter squadrons, currently flying F/A-18E Super Hornets out of NAS Lemoore, California as part of Carrier Air Wing 9. Originally established as VF-23 in 1948, the squadron flew F4U Corsairs in the Korean War, served six combat cruises in Vietnam — including 205 consecutive days of combat operations aboard USS Midway, the longest in Vietnam War history — and made the last-ever F-4 Phantom II flight from an aircraft carrier on March 24, 1986. The Vigilantes were forward-deployed to Japan aboard USS Midway for 17 years, participated in Desert Storm, and most recently deployed aboard USS Abraham Lincoln in 2024, flying 1,892 mishap-free hours including 607 combat hours defending against Houthi threats. This Plane Captain patch honors the enlisted maintainers who make every sortie possible — the ones who own the aircraft from chocks to launch.
Perfect For: VFA-151 Vigilantes plane captains and maintainers, CVW-9 personnel, F/A-18E Super Hornet crews, NAS Lemoore squadrons, and anyone who knows the real heroes are the ones who hand the jet to the pilot.
Vigilantes Plane Captains — because nothing flies without them.
