Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 115 (VAW-115), the Liberty Bells, operates the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye from NAS Point Mugu, California. This "Snapper" patch represents a specific aircraft or detachment within the squadron. VAW-115 provides airborne early warning, battle management, and command and control for the carrier strike group, using the E-2D's advanced AN/APY-9 radar and mission systems to detect threats, manage the battlespace, and coordinate the movements of every aircraft and ship in the battle group. The Liberty Bells are the eyes and brains of the carrier air wing, and the Snapper crews carry that responsibility on every mission.
