Official VAQ-139 Cougars 40th Anniversary Patch — Four Decades of Electronic Warfare Excellence
Because when you've been jamming enemy radars for 40 years, you deserve a patch that says so.
VAQ-139, the Cougars, became operational on July 1, 1983, at NAS Whidbey Island, Washington, and has since become one of the most decorated electronic attack squadrons in the Navy. The Cougars transitioned from the legendary EA-6B Prowler to the EA-18G Growler, and in September 2013 they conducted the first-ever successful live fire of an AIM-120 AMRAAM from a Growler. During their 2014-2015 deployment aboard USS Carl Vinson — the longest carrier deployment since the Vietnam War — the Cougars provided over 75% of all airborne electronic attack support in theater during Operation Inherent Resolve. This 40th anniversary patch commemorates four decades of the Cougars making the electromagnetic spectrum a very unfriendly place for America's adversaries.
Perfect For: VAQ-139 Cougars aircrew and veterans, EA-18G Growler community members, NAS Whidbey Island electronic warfare professionals, and anyone who celebrates 40 years of jamming.
Cougars. Si vis pacem, para bellum.
