Electronic Attack Squadron 129 (VAQ-129), the Vikings, is the Fleet Replacement Squadron for the EA-18G Growler. This shoulder patch represents the NOLA (New Orleans) Fighter Detachment — a training detachment that operates away from the Vikings' home base at NAS Whidbey Island. Detachments allow FRS students to experience different operating environments and airspace, enhancing their tactical training. VAQ-129's mission is to produce combat-ready EA-18G Growler crews, and detachments to locations like New Orleans expand the training opportunities available to student electronic warfare officers and pilots.
