The squadron later transitioned through multiple aircraft and eventually became VFA-146, flying the F/A-18E Super Hornet. This throwback shoulder patch honors the VA-146 era — the classic Blue Diamonds insignia from the days of the lightweight, nimble A-4C Skyhawk, one of the most beloved attack aircraft in naval aviation history.
