The Helicopter Sea Combat Weapons School Atlantic (HSCWSL) is the United States Navy's East Coast center of excellence for helicopter sea combat tactics and weapons instruction. HSCWSL trains the Navy's top helicopter pilots and aircrewmen to become weapons and tactics instructors (WTIs) — the tactical leaders who drive employment doctrine and serve as the go-to experts in their fleet squadrons. This Christmas patch celebrates the holiday season at one of naval aviation's most elite training commands.
HSCWSL's curriculum covers the full spectrum of helicopter sea combat operations: anti-surface warfare, visit board search and seizure (VBSS), combat search and rescue, special operations support, vertical replenishment, and anti-submarine warfare support. Students at the weapons school are already experienced fleet aviators who are pushed to the highest levels of tactical proficiency through intensive academics, simulator training, and live-fly exercises. Graduates return to their HSC squadrons as the acknowledged masters of helicopter sea combat tactics. The Christmas patch adds a festive touch to this demanding program, reminding everyone that even the most serious tactical operators enjoy the holidays.
