Intercept controllers are the ground-based or airborne personnel who provide radar-guided direction to fighter aircraft, vectoring them to intercept hostile aircraft or unknown contacts. The ICI qualification at MAWTS-1 represents the highest level of tactical proficiency for intercept controllers in Marine aviation, producing the experts who train all other controllers.
